Last Friday, August 27th, Mark and I went to our first ultrasound. It was very exciting! Hearing the heart beat for the first time was an incredible sound. It felt so reassuring to hear it pumping strong after 2 months of feeling absolutely nothing. Dr. Kwak said everything looked good and that I wasn't normal for feeling so well! That was good news to me until he said I'm putting on weight a little fast. Hopefully I am like a few of the women I've talked to in that they gained all their weight in the beginning and it tapered off in the 3rd trimester. Maybe I'll be lucky! Anyways, I'm not too worried about it because the baby is healthy and I am still working out and staying busy. I'll just have more work to do after he/she comes.
Speaking of he/she, I was hoping to sneak a peak at the baby at the sonogram, but it was simply audio. :( I will just have to wait til my 18 week ultrasound to find out what the baby will be. That is on September 14th in just 14 days! I am so anxious to see our little he/she again because it's been awhile! Hopefully it won't be shy and will show off "the goods". I'll let you all know in 14 days! Use these last couple days to vote if you haven't yet. So far the votes have been 50/50%!
Welcome to our family's blog about our baby's growth and delivery. We are so excited to share our bundle of boy with everyone in February! Feel free to leave comments. Voting on the gender is no longer necessary because we know its a boy!

15 Weeks
The baby is about 4 inches long now weighing 2.5 ounces and is the size of an apple. It is using all that amniotic fluid to get the lungs ready! His/her legs are finally catching up to the length of the arms so I expect to feel some movement soon. I'm VERY anxious for that!
When people ask how I'm feeling, I respond with "Great!" But I'm secretly a little worried about the baby because I feel absolutely nothing! I have my first sonogram this Friday so I will be sure to give a report of our healthy baby after. I just need to trust God that everything is fine and be grateful that I am having an easy pregnancy! We will find out the baby's gender on September 14th so stay tuned!
If I were to have a 3D ultrasound right now, the baby would look something like this:

2nd Trimester!
This Monday, I will have officially hit the 2nd trimester mark! We are currently visiting Mark's family in Bakersfield, and I noticed on the car ride up here that my "loose" shorts were uncomfortably digging into my stomach. It's also really hot here so I thought I'd go buy my first pair of maternity shorts. I went to Kohl's and found the most comfortable jean elastic waist maternity shorts ever for $9! I am so thrilled (you can ask Mark)! I think I might wear these everyday! I also bought a pair of similar jean capris for $14. I am very excited about my new finds if you can't tell.
I got my 13 week newsletter today from babycenter.com. This week, the baby will develop fingerprints and you should be able to see all the organs and veins through the transparent skin. The body is also catching up to the size of the head. It should be about 1/3 of the whole body now! It should weigh about 1 ounce and be 3 inches long (about the length of a big shrimp). Here is about what the baby should look like inside me right now. I think that's a pretty good size! Most people are telling me they think it's going to be a boy... What do you think? Lime = Change in Mood
So, I am now at week 12 and the baby is the length of a lime! I am very excited to be just 1 week away from my 2nd trimester! Unfortunately, I have now had my first real hormonal symptoms of being pregnant. I have become really tired and moody or emotional this week. So far every evening, I have had a little headache and then I get grouchy.
Last night, I had my first real meltdown. A few bothersome things had happened in the evening and I just lost it. It started by cutting out about 2 hours worth of laminated decorations for my classroom next year so I was tired. Then Mark came home and wanted to work in the garage again so I made me a smoothie for dinner and went out to help him. He knocked over my whole smoothie with his drill and I got agitated. We both came back in and I started cleaning up the ant mess from last week in the kitchen and Mark went to work in his office. I was annoyed after scrubbing the floor and scooping litter and then I found that Sandy knocked my new bagels on the floor and started biting them! Oh man, I was ready to give her back. I went upstairs to tell Mark that I wanted to give her back and he said, "Ok, well that's fine but I think you should think about it overnight." (What a smart guy!)
I went to do some other things and came back to him and asked, "I bought some Buterfinger ice cream today. Do you like Butterfinger? Oh wait! You don't really like Butterfinger!" And all he said was, "It's not my favorite". I just lost it! I hid my face in the corner around the door and started bawling! I was so irritated all night and I just couldn't hold it in anymore! Mark asked me what was wrong and I said "I don't knoooooooooow....." He just laughed and held me close and said, "I think I know..." Mark cuddled with me in bed and made me feel all better. :) He also brought me Butterfinger ice cream in bed. He's such a good hubby and I know he'll be a great father too! I just hope I don't do this to him too often!
I don't know why it has taken so long for me to have hormonal changes, but now that I'm approaching my 2nd trimester, maybe I will start to feel the pregnancy more. I just pray that my reaction to the changes will lighten up (for both our sakes)!
